Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 Tiffany Blue at a glance

The ref. 5711/1A-018 is a steel Nautilus with a Tiffany Blue lacquered dial and the words Tiffany & Co. printed at six o'clock. It was announced in December 2021 to mark 170 years of partnership between Patek Philippe and Tiffany. Patek had stopped production of the regular steel 5711 earlier that year. Thierry Stern described the Tiffany edition as "really the last round for this watch."

The collaboration

Tiffany & Co. became Patek Philippe's first official retail partner in the United States in 1851. Co-signed dials from Tiffany have existed for a long time, but this was the first time the famous Tiffany Blue was used on a Nautilus dial. The release also came shortly after Tiffany had become part of LVMH.

Design and details

  • Case: stainless steel, 40 mm, 8.3 mm thick, water resistant to 120 m, on the integrated steel bracelet with fold-over clasp.
  • Dial: Tiffany Blue lacquer with the classic horizontal Nautilus embossing, blackened white gold luminous indices and hands, Tiffany & Co. at six o'clock.
  • Caseback: sapphire, with the inscriptions "170th Anniversary" and "1851-2021".
  • Movement: self-winding calibre 26-330 S C with hours, minutes, seconds and date, 21k gold rotor, Gyromax balance and the Patek Philippe Seal.

Edition size and release

Only 170 pieces were made. They were sold through Tiffany boutiques in New York, Beverly Hills and San Francisco, mainly to long-standing Tiffany clients. The retail price was about USD 52,000, compared with roughly USD 30,000 for a standard 5711. One piece was sold at auction for charity.

Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 Tiffany Blue on the secondary market

The charity piece was sold by Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo in New York on December 11, 2021. Against an estimate of USD 50,000 it reached about USD 6.5 million (reported as USD 6,503,500). The proceeds went to The Nature Conservancy. That price was a one-off charity result, not a guide for the other 169 watches. Collectors look for a complete set: unworn or lightly worn condition, all bracelet links, the Patek Philippe certificate, Tiffany purchase documents, box and tags.

How to check a Nautilus 5711 Tiffany Blue

Because so few exist, this is one of the most faked Nautilus variants. Replica dials are also fitted to genuine standard 5711 watches. Check these points:

  • The reference must be 5711/1A-018, and the sapphire caseback must carry the 170th anniversary inscriptions.
  • The serial numbers on the case and movement must match the Patek Philippe certificate. Patek's own archive service can confirm the original configuration.
  • A Tiffany Blue dial on a watch without Tiffany paperwork, or a price far below market, is a red flag.
  • Look closely at the dial printing, the date window frame and the movement finish through the caseback.

Our guide on how to spot a fake watch explains the general checks. For a watch of this value, have it inspected by Patek Philippe or a specialist before you buy or sell.
