Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch at a glance

The Bioceramic MoonSwatch went on sale on March 26, 2022. It is a quartz chronograph by Swatch that borrows the design of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. Both logos appear on the dial, together with the words "Speedmaster" and "MoonSwatch". The first collection had 11 models, each named after a body of the solar system: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

The collaboration

Omega and Swatch both belong to the Swatch Group. It was the first time the two brands put their names on one watch. The idea was simple: the shape of a famous luxury chronograph at a Swatch price. That is why the MoonSwatch drew so much attention, also among fans of Omega.

Design and details

• Case: Bioceramic, 42 mm wide and about 13.25 mm thick, 20 mm lugs, asymmetric case like the Speedmaster.
• Dial: three subdials, tachymeter scale with the dot over 90, Omega and Swatch logos.
• Movement: battery-powered quartz chronograph.
• Back: the battery cover shows the planet or body the model is named after.
• Strap: Velcro strap in a matching color.

Each model has its own reference, for example SO33M100 (Mission to the Moon), SO33J100 (Sun), SO33G100 (Earth), SO33R100 (Mars), SO33P100 (Venus) and SO33M101 (Pluto).

Edition size and release

The MoonSwatch is not a limited edition. At launch it cost CHF 250 or USD 260 and was sold only in Swatch stores, with no online sales. People queued for up to a day, and stores limited how many watches one person could buy. Later releases added special touches. On March 7, 2023, Swatch sold the "Mission to Moonshine Gold": a Mission to the Moon with a seconds hand in Omega's Moonshine Gold, made only during a full moon and first sold on a full-moon evening in London, Milan, Tokyo and Zurich, each with a certificate. From 2025 some original models were also offered online.

Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch on the secondary market

Because the regular models are still produced, most of them trade close to retail. Interest is higher for special releases such as the Moonshine Gold versions. Buyers look for an unworn watch, the original packaging, the receipt from a Swatch store and, for gold-hand models, the certificate. A scratched case, a replaced strap or a dead battery lowers the appeal.

How to check a MoonSwatch

• Check the reference against the model name and the planet on the battery cover.
• Look at the printing under a loupe: genuine dials and subdials are crisp, fakes are often blurry.
• Look for the small Swatch "S" at the center of the domed crystal.
• Check the Velcro strap texture and stitching, and the engraving on the back.
• Be careful with "new" watches far below retail. Fakes are very common.
