Swatch Art Peace Hotel watches at a glance
The Swatch Art Peace Hotel is an artist residency run by Swatch in Shanghai. The first artists moved in on November 1, 2011. In September 2026 Swatch marked the 15th anniversary with a six-watch collection, each based on an original work by a Chinese artist.
The collaboration
The residency is located off the Bund in a building with more than 100 years of history, once the Palace Hotel and later the South Building of the Peace Hotel. Swatch was approved to restore it in 2008. Artists stay for several months (three to six months according to early reports). There is no brief, only one request: leave a mark, called a "Trace", and a portrait photo. By 2014 more than 139 artists had taken part. The residency is also a venue for Swatch events. In 2018, for example, Swatch presented its Damien Hirst Mickey Mouse watches there.
Design and details
The 2026 anniversary collection has six models:
- Digi-Blossoming by Luo Bi: flowers in a digital, 3D style.
- Bund-Astic by Feng Bin: more than 20 buildings of the Bund on the dial, with the hotel's rooftop at the center.
- Flowering Plum by Han Feng: plum blossoms.
- Street Eye by Green Lava: plants, animals, figures and city symbols.
- Curvilinear by Wang Shuai: black and white lines after her work Thirty Thousand Lines, conceived at the residency.
- Blow Away by Yu Yang (YY): Chinese blessings and the character Guan Xiao Ye on bright yellow.
Edition size and release
No edition size was announced. The watches went on sale in China on September 15, 2026, and worldwide on September 24, 2026, in Swatch stores and online.
Swatch Art Peace Hotel watches on the secondary market
This is a very recent release, so there is no settled resale market yet. Over time, collectors will look for unworn watches with all packaging, and for complete sets of the six models. Watches bought in Shanghai, with a receipt from the residency or a local Swatch store, may interest some buyers for their story.
How to check a Swatch Art Peace Hotel watch
- Compare the dial and strap with Swatch's official images. Each model has a distinct artwork and artist name.
- Keep the box and receipt. They help prove that the watch is genuine and new.
- Be careful with "artist edition" claims that do not match one of the six models.
