Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi: origins and founding
Akrivia is not an old brand with a revived name. It is the atelier that watchmaker Rexhep Rexhepi founded in Geneva in 2012, at the age of 25, starting out in his small apartment. The name comes from the Greek word for precision. Some watches are signed Akrivia, while the Chronomètre Contemporain line carries the name Rexhep Rexhepi.
Founders and family
Rexhep Rexhepi fled his hometown in Kosovo during the war and came to Switzerland, where his father was working. He began an apprenticeship at Patek Philippe at 15 and stayed about five years. He then led a team of movement specialists at BNB Concept for three years and worked at F.P. Journe for a little over a year before going independent.
Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi history and milestones
- 2012: Akrivia is founded in Geneva.
- Early years: the first model, the AK-01, is a tourbillon chronograph with a single pusher. Demand was low at first.
- 2018: launch of the Chronomètre Contemporain (RRCC I), a simpler, classic time-only watch. It wins the Men's Watch Prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).
- 2019 and 2021: unique pieces for the Only Watch charity auction.
- RRCC II: the second Chronomètre Contemporain, with a new calibre, brings a second GPHG Men's Watch Prize.
- 2023: the LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie, made together with Louis Vuitton.
- 2024: a unique Chronomètre Antimagnétique for Only Watch 2024.
- 2025: an apprenticeship workshop opens, led by Jean-Marc Figols, Rexhepi's former teacher.
Famous Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi models
- Chronomètre Contemporain I (RRCC I): 38 mm, platinum with white grand feu enamel dial or pink gold with black enamel dial.
- Chronomètre Contemporain II (RRCC II): 38 mm, platinum or pink gold, enamel dials, new movement.
- Akrivia AK series: earlier, more complicated pieces such as the AK-01 tourbillon chronograph and a 2015 titanium tourbillon.
Movements and technique
The Chronomètre Contemporain uses hand-wound movements made by the workshop: calibre RR-01 in the first series and RR-02 in the second. Cases are made by case-maker Jean-Pierre Hagmann, who came out of retirement to work with Rexhepi. Finishing is done by hand, and the team produces roughly 40 to 45 watches a year.
Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi today
Akrivia is independent and based in Geneva's Old Town. It belongs to the top tier of independent haute horlogerie. Demand is far higher than production, and new pieces are allocated by the workshop.
Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi prices on the pre-owned market
Few pieces reach the open market, and those that do often sell for many times the original price. Documented results include:
- Only Watch 2021 (unique RRCC II): CHF 800,000.
- Phillips Hong Kong, May 2023: a pink gold RRCC I sold for HK$7.24 million including premium, about US$924,000. It originally retailed for under US$70,000.
- Phillips Geneva, May 2024: a platinum RRCC I sold for a record CHF 1.2 million including fees.
- Only Watch 2024: the unique Chronomètre Antimagnétique sold for CHF 2.1 million.
Value depends on the model, metal, dial, completeness of box and papers and documented provenance from the workshop.
How to recognise a genuine Akrivia / Rexhep Rexhepi
Because prices are so high, provenance matters more than anything. A genuine piece should come with its original papers and a traceable history, and the workshop is the best place to confirm it. Check the hand-finished movement, the enamel dial quality and the case details against published photos of the exact edition. Never buy based only on photos. See also how to spot a fake watch.

Why are Rexhep Rexhepi watches so expensive?
