What the Formex Aria is

Formex is an independent brand based in Biel, Switzerland, known for collections such as Essence, Reef and Stratos and for its patented Case Suspension System. The Aria Manufacture Chronometer, introduced in late May 2026, is an integrated-bracelet sports watch and the first Formex to carry a movement the brand calls its own manufacture caliber. Formex describes it as its most ambitious watch so far, and at CHF 5,900 it costs more than anything the brand had made before.

The Founder's Edition

The first batch is a Founder's Edition of 100 individually numbered watches, split across three dial colors. Pre-orders opened in May 2026 and are now closed because all 100 pieces sold. Deliveries of the first batch were announced to begin in September 2026.

Ardesia Grey20260513.1.513340 mm titanium, 6.9 mmFX01, 25,200 vph, about 72 h

All three have a matte lacquered brass dial stamped from a single piece, with a concave surface, small seconds at 6 o'clock and Super-LumiNova on hands and indices. The case and the integrated bracelet are Grade 5 titanium. The bracelet has quick-release end links and a double folding clasp with micro-adjustment of 3 mm on each side.

Case and movement

The case is 40 mm wide, 6.9 mm thick and 45.45 mm lug to lug, with sapphire crystal on the front and the back. Water resistance is 30 meters, which is low for a sports watch. With the bracelet it weighs 78 g.

The movement is Caliber FX01, an automatic with a tungsten micro-rotor. It is 30 mm in diameter and only 2.9 mm high, and it is what keeps the watch so thin. Key figures:

  • 25,200 vibrations per hour (3.5 Hz) and 25 jewels
  • About 72 hours of power reserve
  • Silicon hairspring, escape wheel and pallet fork
  • A flexible geartrain pinion meant to remove backlash when setting the hands
  • COSC chronometer certification

Worth knowing: the FX01 was developed with Horage and is based on Horage's K2 micro-rotor caliber, made exclusively for Formex. Monochrome notes that it is not a fully in-house manufacture caliber in the traditional sense, even though the watch is branded as a Manufacture Chronometer.

What is a Formex Aria worth?

The Aria is brand new, so there is no long record of resale prices and we know of no documented auction results. The launch price was CHF 5,900 (EUR 7,600, USD 7,900). Because only 100 numbered Founder's Edition watches exist, the number on the watch, the color, the condition and a complete set with box and papers are likely to matter most. Treat any figure quoted today as an asking price, not a proven market value.
