Mauron Musy: origins and founding
Mauron Musy was set up in Saint-Aubin, in the Broye valley in western Switzerland, by the engineers Eric Mauron and Christophe Musy. Sources give 2012 or 2013 as the founding year; the first watches came out in 2016. The idea was to build a watch with as much Swiss-made production as possible and a new kind of case construction.
Founders and family
Eric Mauron had run Régis Mauron SA, a company that machines mechanical parts. Christophe Musy trained in precision mechanical engineering and worked in the plastics industry before turning to watches. The two met in the late 1990s. Mauron later left the business, and Musy now leads the brand as CEO.
Famous Mauron Musy models
- Classic Steel Armure: the first model, with the gasket-free case and 100 meters of water resistance.
- MU03 Armure: a 44 mm three-hand watch with fitted, not glued, hour markers.
- MU04 GMT Sport: a GMT with ceramic bezel.
- MU05 Skeleton: skeleton watches, including small limited editions.
- MU06 Unix: a 41 mm watch in titanium or gold with a micro-rotor movement.
Movements and technique
The key invention is the nO-Ring case. Instead of rubber seals, closely machined metal surfaces are held together by springs and hinged segments, without screws. According to the brand, the system is watertight to 300 meters in its current form. The MU03 uses a movement designed by Mauron Musy and made by La Joux-Perret. Since 2023 the brand has been developing its own calibres for its 41 mm watches.
Mauron Musy today
Mauron Musy is independent and still small: in 2025 it made about 300 watches a year. It belongs to the independent segment: small series, unusual engineering and direct contact with the people who make the watches.
Mauron Musy prices on the pre-owned market
Because so few pieces exist, there is no broad resale market and prices depend on finding the right buyer. Limited editions, precious-metal versions and complete sets with box and papers are easiest to sell.
How to recognise a genuine Mauron Musy
Fakes are rare for such a small brand. Check that the case shows the brand's gasket-free construction and that the model name and number on the caseback match the papers. When in doubt, the brand can be contacted directly. See also how to spot a fake watch.
