Zeno-Watch Basel: origins and founding
The company traces its history to 1868, when watchmaker Jules Godat set up his own business in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Godat & Co. made large silver pocket watches, including watches for railway workers. In 1920 André-Charles Eigeldinger took over the Godat production and focused on military watches and pocket watches. In 1922 he registered the name ZENO, described as a short form of the Greek name Zenodopolus.
Founders and family
Felix W. Huber took over the management of the company in 1964 and moved assembly and service to Basel. According to Wikipedia he bought the Zeno rights in 1973. The Huber family still owns and runs Zeno-Watch Basel, with Patrik-Philipp Huber in the management.

Movements and technique
Zeno does not make its own movements. Mechanical models mostly use ETA movements, and quartz watches are also part of the range. Watchmakers in Basel finish and assemble pieces by hand.
Zeno-Watch Basel today
Zeno-Watch Basel is an independent family company based in Basel. It positions itself in the affordable entry segment of Swiss mechanical watches, with pilot watches as its speciality.
Zeno-Watch Basel prices on the pre-owned market
Most Zeno watches are affordable both new and used. Mechanical pilot watches and chronographs sell more easily than quartz models. Vintage pieces, such as early military-style watches or the Spaceman, can interest collectors if they are original and in good condition. Box, papers and a recent service help.
How to recognise a genuine Zeno-Watch Basel
Look for clean "Zeno" or "Zeno-Watch Basel" signatures and "Swiss Made" on the dial, and check that the caseback engraving matches the model. With vintage pieces, make sure the dial and movement are original. Our guide explains how to spot a fake watch.
