What Khaki Navy means
Khaki Navy is the water-oriented branch of Hamilton's Khaki collection. Hamilton is an American-founded brand that today belongs to the Swatch Group, and its watches are made in Switzerland. The Navy name points to Hamilton's work for the US Navy: during World War II Hamilton stopped consumer production, and it mass-produced marine chronometers that the US Navy accepted in 1942. The Model 21 and Model 22 chronometers were marked "U.S. Navy Bureau of Ships". Khaki Navy is a modern collection that borrows this naval heritage. It is not a reissue of those instruments.
The main Khaki Navy lines
Khaki Navy is a family rather than a single watch. These are the lines owners come across most often:
- Khaki Navy Scuba Auto: a 100 m diver's watch. According to Gnomon Watches, it comes in 37 mm with an ETA F06.105 quartz movement and in 40 mm with the H-10 automatic. Hamilton also introduced a GMT function on the Scuba in 2025.
- Khaki Navy Frogman: the robust diver, with a crown guard and a rotating bezel. Gnomon Watches lists 46 mm in titanium and 42 mm in stainless steel, and Hamilton now also offers a 41 mm version. The current stainless steel Frogman Auto (H77605135) is 42 mm, 12.5 mm thick and water resistant to 300 m.
- Khaki Navy Pioneer: a more classic, military-style line. Gnomon Watches lists a 40 mm Small Second Auto with an ETA 2895-2, a 43 mm Pioneer Auto with date on the H-10, and a 44 mm Pioneer Auto Chrono with the H-21 chronograph calibre, which it describes as based on the Valjoux 7750.
- Khaki Navy BeLOWZERO: a 46 mm diver with a helium escape valve, rated to 1,000 m according to Gnomon Watches. In 2020 Hamilton released a limited edition of 888 pieces, inspired by the prop watches Hamilton made for Christopher Nolan's film TENET.
Hamilton's official videos also cover older Khaki Navy models, such as the UTC Auto, the Sub Auto Chrono and the first Pioneer, so you may find them on the used market.
Movements: the H-10
Many current Khaki Navy automatics use the H-10 calibre, which Gnomon Watches describes as based on the ETA C07.111. On the current Frogman Auto, Hamilton lists an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring. Older or simpler models may use other movements, including quartz, so check the caseback and the dial before you assume what is inside.
How to tell which Khaki Navy you have
Start with the name on the dial (Scuba, Frogman, Pioneer, BeLOWZERO) and the case size. The reference number is engraved on the caseback and also tells you the exact version. Look at the movement: a quartz Scuba is a different watch from an automatic one, and a chronograph is a different watch from a three-hander. Then check the crown, which should screw down on the dive models, and the bezel, which should turn only in one direction on the divers.
What is a Hamilton Khaki Navy worth?
Khaki Navy watches are in the entry-to-mid price segment, and we have no verified auction records for the family, so we do not quote any. What drives the value is the line and reference, the size and material (a titanium Frogman is not a steel one), the movement, the condition and whether you still have the box, papers and strap. Limited editions such as the BeLOWZERO TENET are usually more sought after than regular production models, but the price depends on the individual watch. A watch that has been serviced and is in good condition is easier to sell than one with water damage or a worn bezel.
